We partnered with Securitas in 2022, making them our community’s third partner business. Kevin wanted help with taking the business beyond what had been achieved to that point, but to also do that as part of a community of other businesses striving for something similar.

There has been huge change since we partnered, with Securitas having transitioned to being self-licensed, changing CRM, appointing an investment consultant, moving premises, and expanding the number of owners from within the team. The company has experienced substantial growth, both organically and through multiple strategic acquisitions.

Based on the rate and scale of change, there have been plenty of challenges. However, the constant has been a great team and a strong partnership with Broadleaf. The team are now embarking on a bold structural change to expand both their wholistic and insurance-only advice offerings.

We were introduced to Brett and Andrew by a mutual colleague who knew Broadleaf’s approach and felt there could be a benefit in working together. When we first met, they had essentially made the decision not to continue as business owners and had only attended the meeting with us out of respect for the person who made the introduction.

To begin with, we worked with Brett and Andrew to establish what they wanted to accomplish. It quickly became apparent that they hadn’t achieved what they’d set out to. Years of hard work had left them fatigued and unsure about how to take the business to the level they’d envisaged.

As a result of our work together, they jointly decided that they would continue in the business on the condition that Broadleaf partnered with them to help them achieve their aspirations.

Within the first two years of our partnership, they had transformed their business. By clarifying their longer-term objectives, they were able to grow by acquiring the business of a retiring Adviser, expand their team, improve their systems, and dramatically improve their financial performance.

Although there is still a lot to accomplish, Finwest has never been in a stronger position.

Profusion began much like many boutique financial advisory firms in Australia. Founders Stephen and Brad, both experienced financial services executives, acquired a business from a retiring adviser as the foundation for their own private advice practice.

Over the following decade, Profusion grew into a well-regarded financial advice practice with a highly respected team. During that time, ownership expanded from two to four partners, reflecting the strength and success of the business.

When partnering with Broadleaf, Profusion’s owners were looking to reduce the key-person risk in a tightly held business. Although they were relatively young, they understood the significant impact that the absence of any one owner could have. While insurance can help address the financial consequences, it cannot fully replace leadership capacity and experience.

This work with the Profusion team led to the concept of “Succession Insurance”. Beyond the financial reassurance of having Broadleaf as a co-owner, the partnership also brings deep experience and strategic support that can be drawn on in a wide range of situations.

Since then, Profusion has continued to build on that foundation. The business has grown significantly, expanded its team, and continued to evolve in response to client needs and market opportunities. Importantly, Profusion has also broadened internal ownership by continuing to create opportunities for the next generation of leaders. We believe this will be a key driver of the firm’s long-term success.
